Since as far back as I can remember, heavy periods were a part of my life. Even when I was in my teens, it just became normal for me to be in agony once a month with heavy flow accompanied with excruciating pain. My doctor/pediatrician prescribed a pain reliever that was to reduce most of my symptoms, to no avail.

It wasn’t until my early 30’s that it was discovered that I had been suffering from FIBROIDS. At the age of thirty-four, the only option available was a MYOMECTOMY (which is major surgery). For years all seemed well until I entered my forties. A small bulge in my lower abdomen appeared and after an examination, it was discovered the fibroids had returned. Though a hysterectomy was an option, I really didn’t want nor was I interested in another major surgery.

Uterine Artery Embolization was something that I had never heard of but was a less invasive procedure I was willing to consider. After the initial meeting with Dr. Kahn, his explanation and expertise on this non-surgical procedure, it was definitely the direction I wanted to go.

Since my procedure four years ago, I’m pleased to say that I’ve since been fibroid free!! If more women were made aware of uterine fibroid embolization, (less invasive, non-surgical treatment) I believe it would by far, be the more popular option. Not only in regards to preserving the uterus, but also as a way of allowing women to make and have better choices/options for an alternative surgical treatment.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Kahn and his wonderful staff as I am very pleased and satisfied with the results. As a former fibroid sufferer, the Uterine Fibroid Embolization is definitely the non- surgical approach I would HIGHLY recommend!!
